On December 18, 2013, CSIS Simon Chair in Political Economy Matthew P. Goodman testified before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on “Economic Engagement in the Asia-Pacific Region,” as part of a Senate hearing series on the U.S. rebalance policy. Matt and his co-panelist Derek Scissors of AEI covered the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, China’s domestic economic reforms and challenges, women’s economic empowerment in the region, and the overall importance of Asia to the U.S. position in the global economy.
