Peter Dutton, who directs the China Maritime Studies Institute at the Naval War College, was at CSIS this past Friday to discuss the competing claims in the South China Sea. Dutton has unique expertise in international maritime law in Asia and CSIS was grateful to host him. In the video below, Dutton explains what is at stake for different actors in the South China Sea and why it matters to the United States, China, and the countries of Southeast Asia.
